Mental Health Awareness Week and Mindful Ageing

Today sees the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week, so what better time to share and promote the exciting work of the Mindful Ageing Erasmus+ project.

We all have mental health and need to care for it just as we care for our physical wellbeing. This year Mental Health Awareness Week will focus on anxiety.

In general, people are living longer. Living the healthiest, happiest life that you can is important. The Mindful Ageing project respects and supports the over 50s to be as healthy and happy as possible. It encourages mindful practice to combat stress and anxiety whilst providing positive interventions to support physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing.  Mindful Ageing encourages the over 50s to feel valued and engaged, encouraging lifelong learning and new activities.  The project has developed many resources and ideas on how to make positive health changes for everyday life, to help maintain good health.

As we age, we can become more prone to conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Using mindfulness practice and having greater self-awareness of one’s own individual needs will help in the journey to improved health in later life. There is no better time than the present to get started with implementing your very own positive changes.

A one-day workshop is to be held in Sheffield and facilitated by Inova Consultancy to bring all the Mindful Ageing ideas together. We will be joined by our European partners who will be sharing their results and comments from participants and facilitators. Attendees will have the opportunity to try some of the mindfulness exercises and activities, including gentle yoga and self-hypnosis. All the activities can support feelings of anxiety and stress, along with tips and tricks to use in daily life. In addition, the theoretical aspect of mindfulness and ageing will be explored and there will be an opportunities to network.

Come along and find out about maintaining your health and implementing new habits to care for your overall wellbeing. Meet some of our past participants and find out about our exciting online learning platform, where you can find even more ideas and activities. A mindful approach to ageing will keep you young at heart and keep stress and anxiety away.

Register now and join us for a fun packed day along with some of our partners who will be happy to share their own experiences of introducing Mindful Ageing in their country. Partners from France, Bulgaria, Finland, Greece, and Cyprus will be in attendance. All our facilitators have vast experience and are experts in their field. Register now as places are limited. We look forward to welcoming you
